Shetland Sheepdogs
The Shetland Sheepdog, also known as the Sheltie, is a breed of herding dog. The Sheltie breed was refined to tend the numerous sheep of the Shetland Islands and today is raised as a farm dog and family pet.
This small dog is very intelligent, vocal, excitable, energetic and willing to please and work hard. The breed was formally recognized by The Kennel Club in 1909.

This dog has become our farmer's best friend. Our dogs do alarm us to when anyone approached the property, barking at birds and other animals to scare them away from our gardens, help keep the sheep flocks in line, and most importantly; give us unconditional love.
Puppy Tips

Puppy training can be the most frustrating and rewarding endeavor you will ever encounter. We hope that the following tips will help to guide you as you and your new puppy learn the ropes!

1. When your puppy has an accident in the house, clean it up with paper towels and take the towels out to a designated area in your yard. Then, when the puppy wakes up first thing in the morning, after naps, or when you go out with them, take them to that designated area to do their business. This will install in them that this is their "potty" spot (not the living room floor).

2. Use one scolding word. Whether it is "bad girl, "shame on you", or "NO!" they will link that bad fraise with bad behavior and will strive to avoid being scolded.

3. Small steps. Some pet owners try to teach a puppy too much too fast. Pick one trick or command and work with just that trick until they have it mastered. This will help prevent "puppy brain" and frustration.

4. Be Confident- Puppies need to know who to respect from early on. By acting confidently, holding the leash confidently and by showing your puppy who they can trust, your training will go much smoother.
